About Us

Our primary goal is realistic optimism about climate change. While there is plenty to be concerned about and a lot of work to do, the world is making more progress than you might think. We feel that focusing on the positive and the effectiveness of action, not alarmism or fear, is the best way to drive further progress.

It's easy to find bad news about climate change, so we focus on solutions and indicators of progress; and what you can do to contribute. We think that even small actions that seem inconsequential are an important part of changing what is normal and moving in the right direction, and also the best way to combat anxiety or depressive feelings about climate change.

We know it can be overwhelming, so we don't just show you a big list of actions. Instead, you'll answer a few questions first, then we'll help you find personalized ways you can get involved that match your preferences, resources, and interests. Everyone can contribute, but how you do it will look different for everyone.

Tell us a bit about yourself, and see what you can do!

Al Billington

Founder

I'm not a climate scientist or even an activist, but I care deeply about climate change and more generally, sustainability. Unlike many other issues of our time, I feel like it is something that I am personally directly contributing to, and I feel a responsibility to at least do enough to negate my impact (and hopefully more!). I created this site as a way to spread some of what I have learned, both in terms of actions we can do and reasons to stay optimistic, as I explore how I can fit in to this story. I've been overwhelmed with how many possible things there are to do, and hope that the site will help you to stay positive and remember that you don't have to do everything.

I try to be moderate in all things, but above all I’m a science advocate. I have an engineering background and a lifelong curiosity about science and technology. I’ve always wanted to know how things work and am firmly convinced that there are viable solutions to climate change. We have to try, even if it feels like a small thing from just one person. The technology is available, it’s better than ever, it’s even more efficient, but it’s also dropped in price and is more and more accessible to the average person.

I’m a systems analyst, researcher, and doctoral student focused on sustainability, resilience, and disaster science. I’m passionate about translating complex environmental ideas into approachable, real-world actions that make sustainability feel doable for everyone. Outside of research, I love experimenting in the kitchen, exploring new ways to live more sustainably, and finding creative intersections between technology, climate, and daily life.

With a degree in Environmental Sciences and skills in technical writing, I make climate action and sustainability solutions approachable. Through reports, articles, and ESG insights, I focus on carbon markets, emissions reduction, wastewater and solid waste management, energy efficiency, and practical strategies for a resilient future. At Climate Invested, I aim to help people stay informed and hopeful, showing that meaningful steps, whether big or small, can contribute to positive change.

I’m an ESG consultant and sustainability enthusiast who loves turning passion into practice. I enjoy writing and sharing personal experiences around everyday sustainability — the small choices that add up to meaningful change. Joining Climate Invested felt like a natural step, because climate action isn’t just a headline — it’s something we live, daily, through everyone’s actions

I’m a London-based writer and editor with a background in human geography. As a researcher working on climate vulnerability in the Global South, I'm familiar with the direst impacts of climate change, but also the resilience and innovation people can show in the face of this challenge. As such, I'm committed to battling climate doomerism, and I believe no one is too small to help make the world a more sustainable, equitable place.
