We can do this.

Climate change is a topic surrounded by doom, fear, and hopelessness – it can feel like it's an insurmountable problem and that things are just getting worse.

But we are solving it. Where we are today is a lot different than even 10 years ago. For example, did you know the average carbon emissions per person actually peaked in 2012 and are now decreasing? Or that about three quarters of new power generation added in 2024 came from carbon-free sources?

In 2024, most of the world’s new electricity generation added came from solar, with wind also making up a substantial share (generated from Ember yearly world electricity data)

We are moving in the right direction.

We've made massive progress toward scaling up cleaner technologies. It's now a matter of pushing further and faster. Costs for technologies like solar and battery storage have drastically fallen, to the point where they are cheaper than fossil fuel alternatives in many cases.

No matter what happens, your actions matter.

Climate change is often discussed in terms of needing to meet specific temperature cutoffs, and sentiments like "we are doomed anyway, so what's the point?", but this is not a pass/fail test. The more we do now, the better the future will be, regardless of where we end up.

And climate action is already working – the projections for warming by 2100 have been steadily decreasing over time as more work is done, from a catastrophic 3.9°C to a survivable 2.6°C. This is still not good enough, but we will keep pushing it down.

You're not alone, and you can help.

There's a lot of work to do, but you don't have to make drastic lifestyle changes or be an activist to make a meaningful contribution. Fortunately, many people and organizations are already pursuing a variety of climate solutions, but it can be overwhelming to know how to start or where to plug in. We can help. Answer a few questions in our survey, and we will give you a tailored list of things you can start doing now, starting with the easiest and most impactful.
