Try the 5Calls App for a Guided Phone Call

5Calls gives you a script, a phone number, and a specific issue to call about; making constituent calls take under three minutes with no preparation needed.

Phone calls are the highest-impact form of constituent contact according to most political staffers, more than emails, more than online petitions, more than social media. A real voice on the line gets logged differently than a form submission. But most people never call because they don't know what to say, who to call, or what issue to raise.

5Calls solves all three problems at once.

You enter your zip code, pick an issue you care about from a regularly updated list, and the app gives you the exact phone number to call and a short script to follow. The whole thing typically takes two to three minutes. You don't have to improvise, debate, or answer questions. You read the script, the staffer logs your call, you hang up. Done.

The issues on 5Calls are updated regularly to reflect what's currently moving through Congress, so you're always calling about something timely and relevant rather than a bill that has already passed or died. Clean energy, climate policy, and environmental protection are consistently represented on the list.

How to get started:

Go to 5calls.org or download the app on iOS or Android. Enter your zip code, browse the current issues, and pick one that resonates. The first call is the hardest. Most people find the second one takes half the time.

If the idea of calling still feels uncomfortable, start by reading through a script without calling just to see how short and simple it actually is. That alone tends to remove most of the hesitation.
